How to choose a medical coordinator in Egypt: 8 criteria you can verify

We will not tell you we are the best — that is not a judgement we can issue about ourselves, and you should not accept it from anyone. What follows is eight practical criteria you can measure any company against, including us. Under each one we have stated our own position plainly, including the criterion we do not meet.

1. Is the company registered? Ask for the commercial register number

The easiest question and the first one. A registered company has a verifiable register number, an address and legal liability. An individual operating through Instagram has none of that — and if they disappear tomorrow there is nobody to pursue.

Hayakkom: Egyptian Commercial Register 49973, under Law 159 of 1981, Sheikh Zayed City, Giza.

2. Will they review your medical records before you book a flight?

This is the most important item on the list. If you travel and then discover you are not a suitable candidate, or that your case needs a different plan, you have paid for flights and accommodation for nothing. Pre-travel review is the difference between an organised trip and a gamble.

Hayakkom: we collect your reports and imaging and put them to a licensed provider before you book, so you receive a provisional plan, a cost estimate and an expected length of stay.

3. Will they name the treating doctor and licence before you travel?

You have a right to know who will treat you. A company that withholds the doctor's name until you arrive is hiding the one thing you could verify yourself — Egyptian physicians are registered with the Medical Syndicate and that registration can be checked.

Hayakkom: the patient is told the doctor's name and qualifications before booking a ticket. Weight-loss cases are coordinated with Dr Ahmed Shabana, consultant in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery, under written authorisation.

4. Do you get a written treatment plan and cost estimate?

Verbal quotes are not enforceable. A written estimate protects you from surprise increases, and it is the only thing that makes comparing two companies possible at all.

Hayakkom: the plan and estimate are issued in writing by the treating provider before travel. Hayakkom does not set treatment prices — the provider does.

5. Who receives your money, and under what agreement?

Ask plainly: do I pay the company or the clinic? And who is responsible if the service is not delivered? Transferring a large sum to a personal account with no contract is the single most common feature of the complaints you read about.

Hayakkom: the provider sets and collects its own fees; Hayakkom charges a declared coordination fee. In Saudi Arabia a Saudi partner handles management and collection under a written agreement.

6. What happens after you return home?

Most companies end their relationship with you at the airport. But follow-up after you return is what actually determines whether the treatment succeeded — particularly for dental implants and bariatric surgery.

Hayakkom: we coordinate follow-up with the provider after you return. We also advise leaving Egypt with a written report and the details of what was used in your treatment — implant type and lot number — because your doctor at home will need them.

7. Are they licensed as a tour operator? And do they need to be?

People overlook this one. Arranging flights, hotels and tours is a tourism activity regulated by Egypt's Tourism Companies Law No. 38 of 1977, and it requires a Ministry of Tourism licence. A company selling you a complete trip without one is operating outside the law.

Hayakkom: we are not a licensed tourism company and do not claim to be. Travel, accommodation and transfers are arranged through licensed Egyptian operators who contract with you and invoice you directly.

8. Does their advertising comply with Egyptian law?

An unexpected but accurate signal. Law 206 of 2017 and Supreme Council for Media Regulation Decision 9 of 2025 prohibit describing methods of diagnosis or treatment in advertising, and require the licence number to be displayed. A company that explains surgical techniques in its adverts is breaking the law — and if it will cross that line, what else?

Hayakkom: we audited the entire platform against both and removed every description of treatment method. The commercial register appears on every page.

Common questions

Is Hayakkom the best medical coordination company in Egypt?

We cannot answer that, and you should not accept an answer from any company. What we can offer is criteria you verify yourself: registration, pre-travel records review, disclosure of the treating doctor, a written estimate, a clear payment route, follow-up after you return, and regulatory compliance. Measure any company against those eight, including us.

What does Hayakkom not do?

Hayakkom is not a hospital, clinic or healthcare provider, and does not diagnose or treat. It is not a licensed tourism company. It does not give visa advice. It does not set treatment prices. It does not guarantee medical outcomes. These limits are stated because a company that does not state its limits is the one that should worry you.

How do I verify a doctor's licence myself?

Ask for the doctor's full name and their registration number with the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, and check the facility with the Ministry of Health and Population. This is your right, and a licensed doctor will not mind the question. A company that withholds those details is telling you something important.

What is the most common mistake patients make?

Booking a flight before the records are reviewed. The correct order: gather your reports, put them to a licensed provider, get a written plan and estimate, then book flights around the medical schedule rather than before it.

What are the warning signs of a company to avoid?

A final price from a photograph with no examination. A guaranteed medical result. Withholding the provider's name or licence. Asking you to travel before your case is reviewed. Patient testimonials that cannot be verified. A personal account for transfers with no contract. And detailed descriptions of surgical techniques in advertising, which is a breach of Egyptian law.
