Doctor and nurse visits at your hotel or home in Egypt
If someone in your family falls ill on holiday, or needs a dressing change or a prescribed injection, we arrange a visit from a licensed doctor or nurse — in Arabic or English.
Choose the help you need
Who this is for
- Travellers who fall ill — fever, stomach upset, a bad cold, sunburn or heat exhaustion, ear infections after swimming.
- Patients after surgery — dressing changes and wound checks, following the written instructions of your surgeon.
- Prescribed injections — a nurse can give injections that a doctor has prescribed for you; bring the prescription.
- Elderly companions — a check-up, blood pressure or blood sugar monitoring, or help when a trip to a clinic is tiring.
Emergencies: call 123 first
If someone has chest pain, difficulty breathing, a serious injury, loss of consciousness or signs of a stroke, do not wait for us. Call 123 for an ambulance, then tell hotel reception. 123 is Egypt's ambulance number; police is 122 and fire is 125 (American University in Cairo). Message us afterwards and we will help with interpretation and keeping your family informed.
Any patient transfer is carried out only by licensed ambulance or medical transport providers — never in a tourist car.
How a visit is arranged
- Message us on WhatsApp with your location (hotel and room number), the patient's age, the symptoms, regular medicines and allergies.
- We contact a licensed provider — a home-care company or a hospital's home-visit service that covers your area.
- The provider confirms the fee, the type of professional (doctor or nurse) and an estimated arrival time. You agree before anyone is sent.
- The visit. The doctor examines the patient and decides on treatment, a prescription, tests, or referral to a hospital.
- Afterwards. We can help you find a pharmacy and, if needed, arrange a follow-up visit.
Where we can arrange visits
Cairo and Giza: several licensed home-visit services operate here; one app-based service, for example, says it covers most Cairo districts around the clock (App Store listing). Availability still depends on time and traffic.
Red Sea resorts (Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, El Gouna): start by asking hotel reception whether the resort has its own clinic or a doctor on call — this is often the quickest option. Both cities also have private and government hospitals; the UK government's list of medical facilities in Egypt names several in each (GOV.UK). We can help you contact them.
In smaller or remote places, a visit may not be possible and the doctor may ask you to come to a clinic instead.
Before you travel: a short checklist
- Travel insurance: check whether your policy covers doctor visits abroad, and keep every receipt and report for your claim.
- Regular medicines: bring enough for the whole trip in their original packaging, with a copy of the prescription.
- A short health note for each family member with chronic conditions or allergies, ideally in English.
- Save the numbers: 123 for an ambulance, your hotel reception, and Hayakkom on WhatsApp.
- After surgery in Egypt: keep your surgeon's discharge instructions with you, so the visiting nurse follows the same plan.
For heat-related problems, prevention is easier than treatment: plan outdoor visits for the morning or late afternoon, drink water regularly and use sun protection, especially for children and older relatives.
Fees
We did not find a reliable published price list for hotel or home visits in Egypt, so we do not quote one here. Fees vary with the city, time of day and whether a doctor or nurse is needed. The provider tells you the fee before the visit and you pay the provider for the medical service. Medicines and any tests are extra.
What we do, and what the doctor decides
We coordinate: finding an available licensed provider, interpretation, and follow-up arrangements. The doctor or nurse decides: the diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, and whether you need a hospital. Hayakkom does not give medical advice and is not an emergency service.

Questions people ask
How quickly can a doctor reach my hotel?
It depends on the city, time of day and traffic. The provider gives an estimated arrival time before you confirm. We cannot promise a fixed time, which is why emergencies should always go to 123.
Who do I pay, and how much?
You pay the licensed provider for the medical visit. The provider confirms the fee before sending anyone, so you can decide. Medicines and tests are charged separately.
Can a nurse give an injection I brought from home?
Only if you have a doctor's prescription for it and the nurse agrees it is safe to give. Bring the prescription and the original packaging.
My resort has a clinic. Do I still need you?
Use the resort clinic first if it is open — it is usually the quickest. We can help with interpretation, a second visit, or contacting a hospital if the resort doctor recommends one.
