Autumn break (20 – 28 November 2026): Upper Egypt at its best
Late November is when Luxor and Aswan become comfortable again, with days around 27–29°C, and the Red Sea is still warm enough to swim. Nine days fits a 4-night Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan (indicative 1,650–4,400 SAR per person) with two or three days in Cairo or by the sea. This is also the quietest of the breaks, so it is the easiest to book at a good price.
Mid-year break (8 – 16 January 2027): sun in the south, the pyramids in the cool
January is cool in Cairo (around 19°C by day, colder at night) and pleasant in Aswan (around 23–24°C). It is the most comfortable month for long sightseeing days at the pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the temples. Pack a jacket for evenings and for the Red Sea, where the water is around 22°C.
Founding Day weekend (19 – 22 February 2027): a short break, or the Abu Simbel sun
Four days suits a Cairo city break: the pyramids, Khan El Khalili and a Nile dinner. On 22 February the rising sun lights the inner sanctuary of the Great Temple of Abu Simbel, one of two days a year when this happens, and it falls on Founding Day itself in 2027. It is a dawn event with crowds, so it needs a night in Aswan and an early start; tell us early if you want it.
Eid al-Fitr break (26 February – 13 March 2027): the longest window
The break starts in the last ten days of Ramadan and ends after Eid, which is expected on Tuesday 9 March 2027. Spend the Ramadan evenings in Cairo — lanterns, Al-Hussein and Khan El Khalili after iftar — and move to the Red Sea for Eid. Read the Eid al-Fitr 2027 guide for a day-by-day plan.
Eid al-Adha break (7 – 22 May 2027): beaches, not temples
Eid al-Adha is expected on Sunday 16 May 2027. By mid-May, Luxor and Aswan reach the high 30s °C, so this break is for the sea: Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Safaga or Alexandria. See the Eid al-Adha 2027 guide.
Summer (from 24 June 2027): the North Coast season
From late June to September, Gulf families head for the Mediterranean. Private North Coast villas and chalets in gated Sahel resorts run about 900–3,750 SAR a night in July–August 2026, and the best ones go months ahead.
Treatment that fits a school break
Many families combine a holiday with treatment. The length of the break decides what is realistic; the doctor confirms the plan after reviewing your case.

When are the Saudi school holidays in 2026–2027?
Autumn break 20–28 November 2026; mid-year break 8–16 January 2027; Founding Day 19–22 February 2027; Eid al-Fitr break 26 February – 13 March 2027; Eid al-Adha break 7–22 May 2027; the summer holiday starts after school on Thursday 24 June 2027. These are the Ministry of Education dates for 1448 AH.
Which school break is best for a first trip to Egypt?
The autumn break in late November or the mid-year break in January. The weather is mild in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, nine days is enough for the pyramids and a Nile cruise, and these weeks are quieter and cheaper than Eid.
Is May too hot for Egypt?
For Luxor and Aswan, yes for most families: daytime temperatures reach the high 30s °C. The Red Sea resorts, Alexandria and the North Coast are comfortable in May, so the Eid al-Adha break is best spent by the sea.
Can we do treatment and a holiday in the same school break?
Often, yes. A 9-day break fits veneers, a hair transplant or a check-up; a 16-day Eid break fits cosmetic or weight-loss surgery with recovery. The doctor confirms what is realistic after reviewing your case, and the final treatment price is set by the clinic.
How early should we book an Eid trip to Egypt?
As early as you can, ideally six to eight weeks ahead. Egyptian families travel in the same Eid days, so Red Sea and North Coast hotels fill quickly and prices are at the top of the range.
